Healthy Diet Plan For Vegetarians within 1500 Calories

By Parul Dube8 January 20267 min read

The pros of consuming a healthy diet can never be over-emphasized. It is a challenge many vegetarians face — hitting protein and nutrient goals while staying within a defined calorie budget, since many default vegetarian staples lean heavily on carbs.

A sample 1500-calorie day

  1. Breakfast (~320 kcal): Vegetable besan chilla with curd
  2. Mid-morning (~100 kcal): A handful of roasted chana or a fruit
  3. Lunch (~450 kcal): Dal, one roti, a vegetable sabzi, and a bowl of salad
  4. Evening (~120 kcal): Sprouts chaat or buttermilk
  5. Dinner (~400 kcal): Paneer or tofu stir-fry with vegetables and a small portion of rice
  6. Before bed (~110 kcal): A glass of milk or a small bowl of curd

Closing the protein gap

Vegetarian sources like paneer, tofu, dal, chickpeas, rajma, and Greek yoghurt can meet daily protein needs — the key is including at least one strong protein source in every meal rather than relying on carbs to fill the plate.

Staying consistent

A calorie target only works if it's realistic to sustain. Building the plan around foods that are already part of your routine — rather than unfamiliar "diet foods" — makes it far more likely to stick.
